NAVI at Live News!

Dr. Mustafa Kirisci, Assistant Professor of Homeland Security at DeSales University, and volunteering content editor, here, at NATO Veterans Initiative, participated in a live news program on AL24news – قناة الجزائر الدولية and shared his views on the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war.

His analysis suggests that Russia’s potential capture of Severodonetsk, followed by a focus on Lysychansk, could provide them with control over the entire Luhansk region, presenting a significant strategic advantage. Despite the potential setback for Ukraine, he emphasizes the resilience of the Ukrainian people and military, highlighting their enduring hope for victory in the war.

In a separate analysis, he argues that while the EU’s recent grant of candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova is viewed as a positive symbolic gesture, it’s crucial to note that this doesn’t guarantee immediate military support. The EU grapples with internal divisions on how to handle the conflict, with some advocating for continued military aid to Ukraine, while others prioritize a swift end to the war, even if it involves territorial concessions.
Finally, he underscores the importance of maintaining communication channels with Russia to explore potential avenues for negotiation. Simultaneously, he recommends applying sanctions and offering continued international support to Ukraine as they navigate the complexities of the situation.
